Switching up Sunday lunch with Pieminister

Pieminister Sunday menu

I’ll confess, a Sunday roast isn’t my favourite meal. Yes, I know, that’s a shocking fact as everyone else on the planet seems to go wild for it, but it’s just never been my jam. I mean, I think I’ve only had maybe one Sunday roast since Christmas last year. Controversial, right?

Pieminister however has leveled up on the Sunday lunch offering and they invited me down to review their ‘Sunday Best’ which is a pie of your choice, sat on a generous helping of mash, topped with a Yorkshire pudding that’s filled with carrot and swede mash, roast potatoes, pork crackling and a pig in blanket. And that, is the type of roast dinner I’m here for. Carbs on carbs on carbs, the acceptance that pigs in blankets shouldn’t just be limited to the festive season and the option to have unlimited gravy. You’d be lying to yourself if you think it gets better than that on a Sunday.

And you get all of that for a tenner. (Or £11 if you want the unlimited gravy). That’s £10 worth of absolute food coma and to me, that is damn good value, especially for somewhere in the centre of town.

I went for my favourite Pieminister pie which is the Chicken Fungi (chicken with Portobello and chestnut mushrooms), and it has never failed to disappoint as it’s a strong ratio of filling to pastry. If you’re veggie, vegan or gluten free, you also have options. The Sunday Best sides were also de-lish, with the Yorkshire pudding being sizeable, and the carrot and swede helping to break up the carb overload.

If you’re also determined to have a dessert (hi, hello, it’s me), Pieminister has a whole range of sundaes on offer which can be added onto the deal for just under a fiver. I went for the fro-yo lemon meringue option which was a lighter way to end my lunch but I could have easily gone in on a chocolate-y dessert pie as I’ve had them there before and they are delish.

Would I go back to Pieminister for a Sunday Best? Absolutely. Would I go back midweek and have a side of mac and cheese with a pie? I’d do that too (and highly recommend it as their mac and cheese is dreamy). Big love to Pieminister for inviting me and my gals down to review the Sunday Best menu, we had the best time.

Omg that pie looks amazing! I'm not sure on your choice of pie, but the aesthetics and fact you get a pud and pig in blanket as well! YES TO THIS! :)
