What's better than one Birchbox? Two BirchBoxes.

I’m kind of new to the whole beauty box thing (I’ve previously only had a couple of Glossyboxes which you can read about here and here) but after seeing so many good reviews about BirchBox, I thought I’d give it a go. And what’s better than having one BirchBox? Getting another one for free as the lovely Sophia over at Tattooed Tea Lady was promoting a discount code (which has now expired unfortunately!) to get a second box to give to a friend. Which I didn’t do. I kept it. Oops.

So what makes a BirchBox different from other beauty boxes?

BirchBox offers samples rather than full size products. Now this is one of those things you’ll love or hate. We’re not talking those sachets you get from magazines, they’re substantial samples that you can use a few times so you can get a feel for the product. I’m not sure if I prefer this or if I prefer getting a couple of full size products along with some samples. On one hand, if you love a product, you’ve got a full size product that you can use without paying out for it as you would if you liked a sample but if you didn’t like a full size product then it’s going to waste. So I’m inbetween on this one!

BirchBox also has an online shop where you can earn points, spend points and gain a lot more information than you would if you just bought it over the counter – something which I definitely like. Also, I like the little touches – the products comes in a drawstring bag which is a different colour with each box and the inside of each box is printed with a different pattern. Oh and a lot of the time they offer free shipping. And everyone loves free shipping.

Onto the boxes!

I got two April boxes so I’d been expecting to get exactly the same products in each (hence the ‘get a free box to give to your friend’ offer) so I was pleasantly surprised to find only a couple of duplicate products.

*Please note that the prices are for full size products*

Box Number 1:

Beauty Protector – Protect and Detangle (BirchBox Exclusive, £15)
Leave in conditioner which is applied to damp hair before styling.

Unica Radiance Plus – Anti-ageing Cream
Anti-ageing moisturiser, but isn’t in the booklet which comes with the box so I don’t have a clue about the price!

TheBalm Cosmetics – Cheek and Lip Cream (£26 for palette)
This works as both a lip and cheek tint.

One Love Organics – Skin Saviour Waterless Beauty Balm (£30)
This can be used as either a wash off cleanser or a moisturiser.

Pretty much as it appears in the photo, a pastel green nail polish!

Laura Mercia – Souffle Body Creme (From £27)
A rich body lotion.

Propercorn – Sweet and Salty (90p)
What can I say, I love it when a beauty box comes with a snack!

The Second Box

Yes to Cucumbers – Facial Wipes (£4.99)
Cleansing make-up remover wipes.

Campos De Ibiza – Body Milk (£16.55)
Hydrating body milk.

TheBalm Cosmetics – As Before
