My First Beauty Box

I’ve been debating for months whether to get a beauty box – every blogger seems to get them and I just never saw the appeal of paying money for what is essentially a lucky dip. However, I got on the hype and ordered myself my first every box from GlossyBox. I went for a one off as hey, it might have been rubbish, but I think I’ll be ordering again as I’m pretty pleased with what I got!

It was £10 plus P+P which I was chuffed about as I definitely got my money’s worth.

I was really excited when it arrived as essentially, it looked like a present. And I like presents.

The products were a real mix, here’s what I got...

Mitchell and Peach Body Cream (RRP £36 for 100ml). I got a 40ml tube which works out at £14.40 so that alone is already more than what I paid for the box.

Body Cream

Sleek Makeup Pout Polish in Raspberry Rhapsody, RRP £4.95 and this is a full size product.

Pout Polish

Bellapierre Costmetics Ltd, Shimmer Powder in Sunset, another full size product retailing at £12.99.

Shimmer Powder

Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Lotion, samples x2.

Fake Tan

Dove Hair Therapy, Intense Repair 60 Second Treatment Shot – full size product, RRP £1.15

Hair Treatment

In total, my box is worth £33.39 and admittedly, only a couple of the products are those I'd buy anyway but they're all ones that now I have them, I will use!

So far, I’ve tried and loved the Sleek Pout Polish – I’ve always been wary about wearing pink on my lips but you can really build up the colour from subtle to a pretty summery pink. I’ve tried the Mitchell and Peach Body Cream and I must admit, I’m not a massive fan – it’s more of a lotion than a cream and though it smells ok and sinks in well, it’s not as hydrating as my skin really needs. It would be great for someone with normal – oily skin though! The tan samples... won’t get used by me. I’m sorry, I have a reputation of ‘porcelain’ to live up to. The Dove hair treatment will most likely end up being used by my mum (top daughter) and the  shimmer powder I’m going to hold off on using until it’s a bit more summery – it would make a great highlighter for my cheekbones.

What do you think about beauty boxes? Do you subscribe, treat yourself or stay away? Let me know, I’d love to hear!
