La Redoute: My staples style guide

La Redoute Style Guide
'When a woman gets dressed up to go out at night, she wants to give 50% away, and hold the rest back. If you're an open book, there's no allure.'

I think Alexander McQueen pretty much had it right when he said this. Don’t get me wrong, your style should always represent ‘you’, but throwing it all out there? Well there’s nothing left to discover is there? And before you dirty minded lot snigger, I’m referring to your PERSONALITY.

Everyone has their staples in their wardrobe. I have my sister's wardrobe a second wardrobe full of dresses yet I’m a trousers person through and through. Jeans and some form of top/knitwear combo tends to be my go-to choice for an outfit and it’s the kind of mix and match ‘capsule wardrobe’ style that works for all occasions.

Dark jeans, boots, a shirt and fine knit cardigan is a smart look for the casual dress my office requires.

Stonewashed denim, Converse and a chunky knit jumper with a peter-pan collar peeking out is a perfect weekend look for shopping.

Skinny jeans, heels, a sparkly vest and a black cardigan is a perfect alternative to a dress on a night out.

See what I mean? In the same way some girls can’t live without their favourite skater skirt, pair of ankle boots or even just an old hoody, these are the items I can’t live without.
