Introducing East 59th, Leeds

East 59th Leeds Victoria Gate

Oh my days, Victoria Gate in Leeds is KILLING IT with the new bar scene at the moment. I wrote about the launch of Issho quite recently and since then, their next door neighbours have moved in at East 59th, which is a whole new vibe. It’s a New York inspired bar which has a focus on cocktails and chilled vibes, whereas Issho has the ‘we’re out for an occasion and feeling fancy’ vibe. East 59th is a gorgeous space but a little more relaxed which I definitely enjoyed.

I headed down for their launch party and spent my evening sipping on cocktails with some absolutely beaut blogger gals. The cocktail menu is extensive, as is the food menu. We tried a few bits including nachos (my absolute fave in every situation in life), and truffle puffs which are 100% a game changer. Think potato-y balls of goodness with a hint of truffle. Dee-lish. My favourite cocktail that I’ve tried on their menu so far is the Jersey Smash which is a Maker’s Mark Bourbon fruity fusion of delight – though I’m very set on returning to try the entire menu. As y’know, it’s good to try new things.

The bar has a rooftop terrace too which is actually pretty damn incredible whatever the weather as there is under-cover seating with patio heaters so if you’re keen on sitting outdoors, you can do. Even on days like today when I’ve woken up to write this post and it feels like 90% Autumn and I have a candle burning and everything to set the scene. I know everyone thinks of roof terraces and automatically dreams of summer afternoons with a bottle of prosecco in hand (and I’m totally down with that), but I’m excited for cold and crisp Autumn evenings sitting out all wrapped up under a patio heaters with some stars in the distance. Hell, the city centre is right under the flight path for Leeds Bradford so you can even throw in a game of ‘is it a shooting star, is it a plane?’ for some added romance.

I’m pretty set on going back to East 59th for bottomless brunch as I think they have one of the best value deals in Leeds - £15 for the food which includes one brunch dish and unlimited pastries, and then £15 on top for unlimited prosecco. Given a bottle of prosecco in East 59th comes in at £35, I’d say that’s very good value! Overall, I’m definitely impressed by East 59th and I think it’s a really good addition to the Leeds bar and restaurant scene as they’ve definitely brought something a little different to the table.

So, who’s coming for brunch with me? Let me know in the comments!
