Ham and Friends, Leeds

Finding new places to explore is one of my favourite things to do and I’m lucky that this little blog has allowed me a lot of opportunities to experience new places in Leeds – Ham and Friends being one of them. You may already know Friends of Ham, which is situated right by the train station, but Ham and Friends is its sister and is located up on Merrion Street – a seriously up and coming part of Leeds.

Just a little interruption here with a rare outfit shot. I feel the wine glass compliments that hangover I was suffering from when this photo was taken up in the wine area of Ham and Friends.

As an environment to go relax, Ham and Friends is seriously chill and has a summery vibe with high ceilings and tonnes of natural light – whereas Friends of Ham has a cosy feel that I love over the colder months. What I love about Ham and Friends is that it has a food hall, a room dedicated to cheese and a whole range of wine for sale that has been sourced by their experts. You can even buy a bottle and drink it then and there if you so wish. The selection of products they sell if very much curated and from independents rather than mass produced stock – think luxury farmer’s market.

Ham and Friends’ kitchen is set to open in early June and this is something I’m really excited for as I know how well Friends of Ham do their meat platters, so I can only imagine that Ham and Friends will do them just as well, if not better. Having inhouse experts when it comes to cheese as well means they’re definitely set for good things when it comes to food. Brunch is also going to be launching and that is an absolute yes from me as it’s my favourite meal of the day.

When I headed down to explore Ham and Friends (with a slight hangover, not going to lie), we were greeted by their lovely staff who are so knowledgeable about their products. We were given a budget to treat ourselves with and I went for green tea, some sea salt chocolate, freshly ground coffee and a candle – total blogger cliché right there.

If you’re looking for somewhere a little different with a really relaxed atmosphere, I’d definitely recommend heading to Ham and Friends, especially if you love trying different wines – I personally need to stop defaulting to Sauvignon Blanc so this is the place I need to be. And if you’re ever in Leeds and fancy heading there for brunch, hit me up as we all know how much I love a brunch date.
