My Leeds Favourites

places to eat and drink in Leeds

As I seem to be finally getting round to going to some new places in Leeds, I thought I’d put together a post with some of the things I’m loving right now about the city I live in. Though I’ve been here 18 months now, I feel like I’m only just beginning to stray from places I was already familiar with. Saying that, I rarely venture out of the city centre – I’ll keep up with my baby steps!

1. Almost Famous. How could this not make the list? This place takes quirky food to a new level and I’m all about burgers with Frazzles in them.

2. Roxy Lanes. It turns out I’m actually really bad at bowling, but for Saturday afternoon pizza and fun times, this is definitely up there as one of my faves.

3. All Bar One. I’ve now been a grand total of twice and having been there on both a week night for a busy launch and on a Saturday afternoon for a few drinks, I can safely say that it’s a new-found fave.

4. Revolucion de Cuba. You *may* have noticed that I go there fairly frequently (yes, I will continue Instagramming the cocktail that comes in an elephant, no I don’t care if you’ve seen it 1000 times before), but it’s because their drinks are delightful and their food is delicious. It’s a done deal for me.

5. The Liquorist. I’m a long-time fan of this bar and I feel like it’s massively underrated. Their happy hour cocktails are a fiver and taste fabulous, plus their set menu is really good value too. And it feels a bit fancy.

6. The Alchemist on Greek Street. Again, another bar that I’ve over-instagrammed but it’s easily the nicest branch of The Alchemist I’ve been in but nobody seems to know it’s there. I mean, why squish yourself in like a sardine at the top of Trinity when you can sit back and have all the leg room you want over on Greek Street?

7. Turtle Bay. I haven’t been here in ages (anyone want to go with me? I’m open to offers), but I love their food, their selection of rum and how chilled it is. If you haven’t been, you should go.

8. The Electric Press. It may be a branch of Revs and therefore attract hen-dos galore, but it’s fairly big so you can actually grab a seat plus if you have a Revs card it’s 241 on cocktails which is pretty decent.

9. Caracas Grill. This one is a bit more of a street food kind of place, more lunch-y than dinner, but I went there with a group-on voucher for a meal that was essentially all meat. So that worked for me.

So they’re my faves at the moment – do you have any suggestions for me to add to this list? Let me know in the comments.
