Getting back on the bandwagon

Getting back on the bandwagon
The last few weeks, I’ve been a serious slacker. I’ve eaten shit, drunk a lot and barely exercised. My excuses seemed to roll off, one after the other. I was at home so every social occasion was surrounded by food and/or alcohol. It was my birthday. It was my friend’s birthday. I was seeing friends.

And suddenly, an entire month has gone by in a haze of fun times and now I’m regretting it more than a smidge. For someone who was exercising 3 times a week and eating pretty healthily with very little alcohol involved, this month has been really bad and I’m feeling it.

I weighed myself tonight for the first time in a week and it was a shock to my system to say the very least! I texted my mum and my sister to tell them I needed to have a word with myself - then remembered I have a blog which is essentially me having a word with myself all the time so I decided to do a post with some goals.

I’m not putting a time limit on them as health is an on-going journey rather than a goal to aim for (you can tell I spend a lot of time on Instagram when I come out with shit like that), and I’m not putting numbers to weightloss as I always think how I look is a better measure. Let’s face it, nobody looks at you and thinks of a weight, they look at you and see your appearance.

But here’s what I’m aiming for:

  1. Fruit and Veg – hit 5 to 7 portions a day.

2. Stick to water and green tea. Limit fizzy drinks to weekends.

3. Actually eat the meals I prep for myself rather than buy something else on my way home.

4. Get back to the gym, 3 times a week – 2 classes and 1 session with my PT.

5. As the classes are weighted, up the weights in the classes to make it harder.

6. Lift heavier. Just because.

What do you think? Do you sometimes need to have a word with yourself to get your motivation back?
