'Detox' Water

Detox Water Recipe This recipe is ridiculously simple and great for anyone who, like me is feeling bloated, sluggish and generally a bit minging after over indulging in the last few weeks days. We all know that over Christmas, staying hydrated is difficult as we’re more inclined to drink prosecco but this ‘detox’ water is handy to have in the back of your fridge for when you want something refreshing.

It’s really easy. All you need is half a cucumber, a lemon and water. Chop your cucumber into batons, slice your lemon and put it into a jug, top it up with water and leave it in the fridge. That’s it.




Now, I’m in no way a nutritionist, but we all know that when we’re drinking alcohol, we need to re-hydrate at some point, and as much as you may not feel like it, downing a glass of detox water before bed will help you keep hydrated overnight and stop you waking up with a banging headache.

I really like it as you’re getting the added nutrients of the lemon/cucumber but without the calorie content of a fruit juice. I know it’s not as good as just eating fruit and veg but let’s face it, how many people will actually be getting their 5 a day between Christmas and New Year? (Chocolate oranges don’t count).
